Released in 2012 under the direction of Oliver Krekel on a budget of 200,000 Euro with distribution through DigiDreams Studios; "Robin Hood: Ghosts of Sherwood" is a low budget English-speaking German film that aims to combine horror with the legend of Robin Hood. A Deviantart Critic by the name of Dim432 (though he prefers the ambiguous name "The Reviewer") has gone out of his way to call Mel Brooks' "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" the absolute worst Robin Hood movie ever made. Well fine sir, let me tell ya, you ain't seen NOTHIN' compared to this…

In this Robin Hood story, Robin Hood (Martin Thon) is a lousy archer who happens across the blonde-haired Maid Marian (Ramona Kuen) fighting off bandits in the countryside with the guards (a feat she will never do again in this movie) and she starts hanging out with Robin Hood even though he acknowledges he's not a very trust-worthy guy yet she gives him the location how to steal from her cousin, The Sheriff of Nottingham (Tom Savini). But it goes awry (or so I assume, It's so badly edited I can't tell) and Robin Hood and his pals Will Scarlett (Dennis Zachman) and Friar Tuck (Kai Borchadt) are killed, well, except for Robin hood who is brought back to life by a witch (Anika Neubauer) and not only heals Robin back to life, but also gives him potions to increase his strength and his archery skill, allowing him to save his friends and have them resurrected before the 24 Hour time period. But the cost of doing all this, Robin owes his soul to the Devil.
When he tells Maid Marian about this (who apparently is now in love with him for some reason) tries to make a deal with the Witch for gold, only to have Robin and all his men killed. Maid Marian and Little John (Kane Hodder) return to the witch to get a resurrection spell only to kill her and steal all her other potions and returns in he morning. But something goes horribly wrong and while it brings all the Merry men back to life, they all soon hunger for flesh and begin to attack everyone. Using the potions they stole, the two fight their way through terrible effects and cheap make-up effects.

Just…just wow...I mean, this was really bad. Even for a low budget, this was horrible. Everything about this movie seems amateur; the sound quality sounds like everyone dubbed over their lines in post-production, the actress, for a scene that is so stupid and out of place, takes a potion to change her hair color from blonde to brown "to trick her cousin" she says, but it's proven pointless since he still recognizes her anyway), the actors only have 3-4 costumes that they just rotate to everyone on set, effects are as convincing as the ones in Sharknado.

The only nice thing I can possibly say is that Kane Hodder is the only one trying here. He's the only guy I liked in this mess and does seem to legitimately try with the material, but everything else, Good God is this bad. Oh yeah, apparently I found out this movie was shown in theaters as a 3D movie, I would really hate to imagine having to pay 12 Euros to have to watch something this atrocious in theaters. It's not even so bad it's funny, even with some of the worst movies I've seen, they are so bad they become unintentionally hilarious, this movie is just boring. Say what you will about Mel Brooks' Robin Hood, at least it had a budget with a cast of actors that at least looked like they were having fun and Brooks knew how to frame shots appropriately, everybody on this movie looks like they would rather be doing something else than be in this embarrassment.

Final Rating: 0.5/5
Still think "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" is the worst Robin Hood adaptation?
My friend, you'd be dead wrong.
