Well well, here we are again. We survived a hectic year didn’t we? From a war in Ukraine that is slowly destabilizing the globe while the small nation surprised us all and held out against the larger nation for so long, Iranian protestations against their oppressive government increased after the death of Mahsa Amini, and a massive Crypto fraud scandal exposed millions stolen by a guy whose very appearance screamed “I do Crypto.” But as much as this was a year of transition for many, it was also a year of transition for me; from moving out of my parents’ home while they begin a new chapter for their lives only to move back in due to financial reasons. As such, I wasn’t too great at catching up on the films that tended to get critic attention and missed out on what were no doubt great films, such as “Tár,” “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.” But just because I missed out on the Critical darlings of the year doesn’t mean I didn’t have a list to show.
