My feelings can be described as such.

If you've never seen this show...good.

Honestly it's premise is far more interesting than it's main characters, the main one being a Gary Stu who somehow makes more women fall before him than Kintaro Oe from "Golden Boy." The love interest character, despite demonstrating she is more than capable of handling monsters and fighting alongside other male fighters, once she and Gary hook up, she keeps fawning over him and praising him as though he's the only reason she ever logged onto the game, despite the fact he's a block of wood. Made even worse by the fact she becomes a Damsel in Distress by the follow-up season that I am just close to giving up on.
And again, I was on board with the show in the beginning with it's rather inspiring premise of gamers trapped in an MMORPG through the use of an advanced Oculus Rift head-gear system, but then the main character starts to whine about "losing his guild by his arrogance" (which it wasn't, his guild were complete idiots) and his love interest just felt like feminism taking a step backwards and I zoned out completely.

Rather than waste your life on this, watch the condensed, yet hilarious, abridged version on YouTube. Somehow, they keep the characters more in-line with how the writing would present them in the context of the narrative with how uninspired these characters are in the form of parody.

I should honestly just give up, but I'm a bludgeon for punishment, so if ya'll want to start a betting pool how long it takes before I give up, place your bets now! Made it to Episode 16 and I'm still pulling out hair!

Ohoho you are a masochist ~ I kid
In all seriousness the premise, everyone agrees is wonderful and Asuna had the potential to be an amazing character. But Kirito.... ehhhh, execution just messed up. Then again I guess it comes from being adapted to a light novel. Though everyone seems to agree Log Horizon is a better SAO basically

In all seriousness yes, it seriously means something if the Abridged versions are better than the actual anime
And once you're done, check this out to make yourself cleaner from its taint
